I have reviewed the history of motor vehicle accidents “post” application of the TrafficGrip material and report that this Department has investigated no accidents at either location since the material was applied.

We are elated with the outcome of the revitalization of this community. The TrafficPrint and TrafficGrip products have re-introduced this street as a more “pedestrian friendly” and convenient place to conduct business. It’s a winning solution to a problem that had been elevated for many years.

Before TrafficGrip was applied on 6/24/09, our department responded to serious motor vehicle crashes at the intersection during inclement weather. Since its application, we have had no serious crashes with injuries at that location.

The Borough has experienced great success with the TrafficGrip enhancement, and as a result, has had a significant reduction in motor vehicle crashes at these challenging intersections. Since the TrafficGrip has been applied, there have not been any crashes on this bend due to wet or slippery roadways. In the past, the majority of crashes were due to vehicles sliding off the roadway when the roads were wet. The TrafficGrip has proved to be a great safety improvement for the Borough of Oakland and the motoring public traveling this section of roadway.

Since the application date of Safe-T-Grip there has not been a single accident at this site, where before we had been averaging over six a year. This is truly an exceptional performance! I should note that no other safety improvements have been installed at this location; therefore, the entire crash reduction can be directly attributed to Safe-T-Grip. Skid tests conducted after the treatment showed a substantial increase in pavement friction.
